For the first time in ten years, the Shorthorn Boys golf team has qualified for the Regional golf tournament in San Marcos on Monday and Tuesday April 15th & 16th. The boys captured first place honors after a hard fought battle that ended in a tie with Karnes City. A team playoff settled the tie with Schulenburg coming out on top. Playing for the Shorthorn First team were, Kade Vyvjala-89, Montana Olle-91, Landon Brown-90, Mickey Olle-90, and Cullen Machac-106. The Schulenburg Orange team consisted of Laine Brown, Mason Wick-, Zackery Kubala, and Dylan Kubala.
On the girls side of the competition Halie Lewis shooting a fine round of 87 won second place medalist honors and a trip to the regional tournament. This is Halie's first trip to the regional tournament coming after a successful season in which she had all top ten finishes including two second place and one first place finish.
It was a very exciting day and we are looking forward to a solid regional performance by the golfers. With both the boys and Halie playing, it will be fun to spend two full days at the golf course cheering them on.
