Volleyball  *  2014 State Volleyball Champ!

Congratulations to the Lady Horn Volleyball Team for winning the 2014 Class 2A Volleyball State Championship. It is the 1st Volleyball State Championship in the school's history.

State Tournament Results

On Friday in the State Semifinal Match the Lady Horns defeated #1 ranked Iola in 4 sets 18-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19.

On Saturday in the State Final the Lady Horns battled #3 ranked Lindsay. It was a very exciting match from start to finish.

1st set: The Lady Horns trailed 18 to 23 before scoring 7 straight points to take the set 25-23.

2nd set: The score was tied at 11 before the Lady Horns gave up 5 straight points to fall behind 11 to 16. It was too much for the Lady Horns to overcome as Lindsay took the 2nd set 25-18.

3rd set: The Lady Horns again fell behind 6 to 2 before rallying to tie the score at 7. Lindsay scored the next 5 points and we were down 12 to 7. The teams traded the next few points and the Lady Horns trailed 17 to 13 before scoring the next 7 points to take the lead 20 to 17. Lindsay scored the next 2 points to close the gap 20 to 19. This time it was 4 point scoring run for the Lady Horns as they took control of the set 24 to 19 before eventually winning 25-20.

4th set: This set went back and forth as neither team could gain a lead of more than 2 points. The set was tied 21 times and had 7 lead changes. The Lady Horns were down 23 to 22 and scored the next 2 points to take the lead 24 to 23. Lindsay would tie it again at 24 before 2 kills by the Lady Horns ended the set 26-24. The Lady Horns won the match 3 sets to 1 25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 26-24.

Two Lady Horns were named to the All Tournament Team.

Shannon was named the MVP of the State Final.

Cross Country  *  Regional Schulenburg Cross Country

The Schulenburg Cross Country Teams finished the season last Saturday by making it's 2nd consecutive appearance at the Regional IV Championship in San Antonio. The Horns made a respectful showing finishing 13th as a team and finishing ahead of Weimar who had beaten the Horns at the district meet. The Lady Horns were represented by freshmen Kassi Velasquez who finished 40th overall out of 162 runners.
The Horns were led by Rudy Garcia who finished 29th. The rest of the Horns were Leo Volez 55th, Billie Stovall 75th, Jacob Michalke 121, Vitor Juarez 138, and Albert Velazquez 140.

The Lady Horn Volleyball Team once again won the District Championship. The ladies completed a perfect district season last night finishing 14-0. Overall season record is 36-8.

Cross Country  *  Shiner Meet

The boys and girls cross country teams competed yesterday in Shiner at the 28AA District Meet.
The girls finished 4th overall as a team. Kassi Velasques medaled finishing 7th overall and advances to next week's regional meet in San Antonio.

The boys team finished 3rd overall and advance to next week's regional meet. Medaling for the Horns were Rudy Garcia finishing 3rd, Leo Veloz 5th, and Billie Stovall 6th.
