Javeon Lara finished 3rd in the 100. Josh Brown finished 3rd in the discus. Schulenburg finished 18th in the State. Thanks to everyone who helped and supported us this year. Go Horns! 
 
Golf  *  Regional Golf Tournament

The Lady Horns Golf Team will advance to the Regional Golf Tournament Next Week - Please congratulate the girls if you see them Halie Lewis, Hannah Lewis, Juls Machac, Hailey Machac, Skylar Hinson, and Alt. Ryle Proske

Brandt Vyvjala will also advance to the Regional Golf Tournament as a medalist.

Boys Basketball  *  Regional Quarter Finals

The Horns pulled out a dramatic come from behind victory last night defeating Normangee 62-51. The Horns were behind most of the night but made a run late in the game in The Regional Quarter Finals Championship. The victory featured balanced scoring with 5 Shorthorns with 8 points or more.

The Horns advance to the Regional Tournament in New Braunfels at 6:00 on Friday vs San Isidro. Thanks for your continued support.

Girls Basketball  *  Update

The Lady Horns Basketball team defeated Holland last Friday night 47-30 in the area round. The Lady Horns now advance to the Regional Quarter Final round where they will now face San Saba as part of a doubleheader with the Shiner boys vs San Saba boys at Lake Travis HS.

Schulenburg vs San Saba, 6 pm, Tuesday Feb 24th @ Lake Travis High School.

Parking is limited due to construction around the campus. I was told to warn you not to park in fire lanes as they will tow you.

Planned route: Hwy 71 West to Austin, In South Austin, exit Southwest Parkway (this helps you avoid Oak Hill and traffic) Take Southwest Parkway west and take a right back on 71 to 620. Take a right on 620, the high school is about 5 miles ahead on the left ( past the home depot and Chick fil A). Take the second entrance to the high school ( Spillman Loop), gym is on your left.

Girls Basketball  *  The Playoff's

The Lady Horns finished district play last night beating Ganado 46-32. The Lady Horns record is now 24-6 overall and they finished in 2nd place with an 8-2 district record.

Our Bi District playoff game will be next Tuesday, February 17th vs Center Point @ 7:00 pm in Floresville. Ticket prices will be $5 for adults and $3 for students. I will send word on any passes being accepted at the game later today when everything is finalized.

Also, we are finalizing a playoff shirt for both the boys and girls basketball teams and should have that out later today.

Thanks for your continued support of both the girls and boys basketball team as they get ready for the playoffs!

Over the last month or two, a few more awards have been announced.

Lone Star Volleyball covers all of the teams in Texas. The Setter & Hitter of the year awards are selected from all classifications (2A - 6A). The Small School Player of the Year is selected from (2A - 4A)

Volleyball  *  2014 State Volleyball Champ!

Congratulations to the Lady Horn Volleyball Team for winning the 2014 Class 2A Volleyball State Championship. It is the 1st Volleyball State Championship in the school's history.

State Tournament Results

On Friday in the State Semifinal Match the Lady Horns defeated #1 ranked Iola in 4 sets 18-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19.

On Saturday in the State Final the Lady Horns battled #3 ranked Lindsay. It was a very exciting match from start to finish.

1st set: The Lady Horns trailed 18 to 23 before scoring 7 straight points to take the set 25-23.

2nd set: The score was tied at 11 before the Lady Horns gave up 5 straight points to fall behind 11 to 16. It was too much for the Lady Horns to overcome as Lindsay took the 2nd set 25-18.

3rd set: The Lady Horns again fell behind 6 to 2 before rallying to tie the score at 7. Lindsay scored the next 5 points and we were down 12 to 7. The teams traded the next few points and the Lady Horns trailed 17 to 13 before scoring the next 7 points to take the lead 20 to 17. Lindsay scored the next 2 points to close the gap 20 to 19. This time it was 4 point scoring run for the Lady Horns as they took control of the set 24 to 19 before eventually winning 25-20.

4th set: This set went back and forth as neither team could gain a lead of more than 2 points. The set was tied 21 times and had 7 lead changes. The Lady Horns were down 23 to 22 and scored the next 2 points to take the lead 24 to 23. Lindsay would tie it again at 24 before 2 kills by the Lady Horns ended the set 26-24. The Lady Horns won the match 3 sets to 1 25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 26-24.

Two Lady Horns were named to the All Tournament Team.

Shannon was named the MVP of the State Final.
