Golf  *  Halie Lewis took Top Honors

Halie Lewis took Top Honors as 1st place Individual Medalist in the Moulton Golf Tournament Tuesday, March 25th.

The team of Halie Lewis, Courtney Whitehead, Hannah Lewis, and Julianna Machac took 4th place out of 9 teams fielding the tournament. The top three teams consisted of two 3A teams and one 1A team. The Lady Horns competed well in this tournament.

Tennis  *  Caldwell Tournament

The Varsity Tennis team participated in the Caldwell Tournament Thursday, March 6th at the Somerville HS courts. In Girls Singles, Schulenburg's Kristin Moring won the Championship and Kelsie Fietsam won the Consolation bracket. In the Boys Doubles Bracket Mickey Olle and Michael Kubesch won 2nd PLACE, In Mixed Doubles Montana Olle and Shannon Mikesky won the Championship, and Jacob Michalke and Kayla Schaefer won the Consolation bracket. In Girls Doubles Brooke Taylor and Britny Meyer won 2nd Place.Also playing was Seth Eckhardt who played in the Consolation final match but fell to Ramon of Somerville.

Congrats to the Ladyhorn softball team for winning the Friday/Saturday bracket play tourney. We defeated Marion 4 to 3, defeated Thorndale 11 to 0 then beat Fairfield 4 - 1.

Baseball  *  Hallettsville Sacred Heart Tournament

The Shorthorns won 1st place this weekend in the Hallettsville Sacred Heart Tournament. We beat Flatonia 5 - 4, Edna 10 - 0, and in the championship game beat East Bernard 12 - 2. Making the All Tournament team were Blaine Besetzny, Ross Bludau, Wesley Kutac, and Tristan Wendt.

We start district play tomorrow in Poth starting at 7:00 p.m. varsity only!  
Boys Basketball  *  Shorthorn Area Results

The Shorthorns played the East Chambers Buccaneers on Friday night in Houston for the Area Championship. The Horns lost by a score of 59 -47. It was a hard fought game - the Horns competed well but fell short. The Horns finish the season with a record of 18 - 13. The Horns were the Bi District Champs by virtue of their victory over Comfort in the 1st round of the playoffs. The Comfort victory was the 1st playoff victory for the Horns since the 2007 season. In addition the Horns finished 2nd in a tough district with a record of 9 - 3. Listed below are the members of the Horns Basketball Team - Thanks for your support during the season - Coach Hoog

The Shorthorn boys golf team along with two medalists played in the Weimar golf tournament held on Monday, Feb. 24th at the Weimar golf course.Leading the Horn team was Kade Vyvjala 84, Landon Brown 98, Brandt Vyvjala 104, Rhett Ahrens 101, and Cullen Machac 109. Competeing as medalists were Dylan Kubala 122 and Jared Krause 120. The team improved by many strokes from the first tournament as we are waiting to field our full team soon due to other conflicts. The Lady Horn golfers had a fine second place finish at the Weimar golf tournament held on Tuesday, Feb. 25th at the Weimar golf course out of a field of 11 teams. For the second year in a row, Halie Lewis took first place medalist honors with a score of 84. Hannah Lewis turned in a fine 94 and Juls Machac improved her score from last week with a 117. Courtney Whitehead finished out the scoring with a 126.

Softball  *  Ladyhorns Take 3rd

Congrats to the Ladyhorn softball team for winning third place @ the Louise tourney. We won 3 games and lost 2. We beat Rice, Louise & Bloomington and lost to Edna & Brazos for 3rd place. Sarah Walker was selected to the All tourney team. 
Tennis  *  Shiner Tourney

The Schulenburg Varsity Tennis team traveled to Shiner to participate in a tournament on Monday, February 24th. Schulenburg again was the very last team to leave the courts with an intense Championship between 2 Schulenburg young ladies that went into a tie break and gave Schulenburg both a First Place and a Second Place in Girls Singles Competition.

Kristin Moring received First Place and Kelsie Fietsam received Second Place.

Also in Championship play were Boys Doubles Team of Mickey Olle and Michael Kubesch receiving First Place medals.

And yet another Doubles Team of Montana Olle and Shannon Mikesky received a First Place in the Championship match for Mixed Doubles play.

Other players that advanced were Jacob Michalke and Kayla Schaefer in Mixed Finals also advanced to Final Consolation match falling short to Glen and Kelsie of Rice. And Seth Eckhardt made it to the Consolation semi-final match.

In Girls Doubles play Britny Meyer and Brooke Taylor won their first match vs a LaGrange duo of Alyssa Wick and Kassidy Hakemack in a tight one of 8-6, but fell to the combination of another LaGrange duo that advanced to become the Champions of Girls doubles
